Timeline for MHRT Reviews of Treatment Authorities (TA)
| Review Type | Review schedule or trigger | Possible outcome |
| First Periodic Review | Within 28 days of a Treatment Authority being made | Treatment Authority is continued, amended or revoked |
| Second Periodic Review | Within 6 months of the first Review | Treatment Authority is continued, amended or revoked |
| Third Periodic Review | Within 6 months of the last Review | Treatment Authority is continued, amended or revoked |
| Fourth and all subsequent Periodic Reviews | Within 12 months of the last Review | Treatment Authority is continued, amended or revoked |
| Applicant Review | Upon receipt of an application to MHRT for an unscheduled Review | Treatment Authority is continued, amended or revoked |
| Tribunal Review | The MHRT chooses to conduct an unscheduled Review | Treatment Authority is continued, amended or revoked |
| Under Notice Review | there has been a material change in the patient’s mental state requiring a change of category from community to inpatient | Treatment Authority is continued, amended or revoked |
