Timeline for MHRT Reviews of Treatment Authorities (TA)

Review Type Review schedule or trigger Possible outcome
First Periodic Review Within 28 days of a Treatment Authority being made Treatment Authority is continued, amended or revoked
Second Periodic Review Within 6 months of the first Review Treatment Authority is continued, amended or revoked
Third Periodic Review Within 6 months of the last Review Treatment Authority is continued, amended or revoked
Fourth and all subsequent Periodic Reviews Within 12 months of the last Review Treatment Authority is continued, amended or revoked
Applicant Review Upon receipt of an application to MHRT for an unscheduled Review Treatment Authority is continued, amended or revoked
Tribunal Review The MHRT chooses to conduct an unscheduled Review Treatment Authority is continued, amended or revoked
Under Notice Review there has been a material change in the patient’s mental state requiring a change of category from community to inpatient Treatment Authority is continued, amended or revoked
